Absolutely! Far better to have 18 yr olds drinking in public where they can learn to drink responsily than to have them drinking in private where they learn to binge.

I think that no matter what the age limit is, kids will drink. The part I would find most worrisome would be the 15 year old friends with the 18 year old, and gets liquor from them. On the other hand, if they are old enough to serve the country and go to war and vote, why not lower the age. But if they lower the drinking age to 18, I think they should raise the driving age to 18, because of the chance of the 16 yr old having easier access to the liquor.

Yeah ..let's lower the drinking age and give them cell phones to use while driving.

The #1 group of people that have accidents are teenagers, so let's add to that.. drinking legally? Why in the world can't a law just be applied and enforced without making a set of new laws?

This is an individual state issue, but yes...if our young people can sign contracts, marry, be drafted to fight in war, and vote, they also should have the right to drink alcohol.  During the later part of the Vietnam war, my state, Michigan, lowered the drinking age to 18 and it remained lowered for many years.   I do understand that irresponsible 18 year olds might drink and drive (possibly killing others) or might drink themselves to death in drinking contests, but I also realize that they can die or kill others in war.
