I have a problem, even before I start...*m*

What do you do about sugar substitutes you are allergic to??? Has anyone else had this problem? I break out in hives from aspartame and nutrasweet containing products ANY suggestions??

Thanks!

Tracy

One thing, look for splenda to replace sugar. (m)

it measures like sugar, cooks like sugar, but has 0 cal. and 0pts. Make your version of Crystal Lite by using Unsweetened Cool-Aid and Splenda - or buy Splenda sweetened soft drinks (Diet V8 Splash and Diet Rite soda both use Splenda).

Another option is to go ahead and use Sugar, keep track of your pts. but cut the portions in 1/2 or more. I know there are some on WW who refuse to use lo-fat, no-fat, sugar free items so they find ways to use the real thing and keep OP What ever works for you.

Good luck to you and good luck w/ the Hives.

Hi Tracy!

I don't use sugar substitutes. I generally don't use that type of food on the program at all- I cook with butter and olive oil and I'd rather have fruit than the chemical-heavy dessert substitutes.

Aspartame gives me migraines. You can do it w/o sugar substitues (m)

I am not willing to try the other subsitutes because I don't want to risk a migraine. You don't have to rely on altered products to do the program and be successful! Some of your foods will have higher points values, but that beats hives, doesn't it? Some of the WW foods have aspartame, so you have to be careful what you buy.

If you want to try some of the other substites, go ahead. But I am here to say, you don't need to use sugar subsitutes to do the program and be successful.

Tracy, Aspartame does a number on me too ... -nt

... numbed tongue and headaches. I totally agree with the rest of the feedback. You don't need the substitutes to be successful. Most of my intake of sugar (and cream!) before OP was from coffees and teas. So, I stopped having them. It was hard at first but I don't miss it anymore.

Cheers, Vee =o)
