We all know about sweet food gifts such as cookies, cocoa mixes, fudge, etc.

What are some good SAVORY food gifts?

Here's mine.....

Garlic and Rosemary oil

4 cups extra virgin olive oil

4 cloves of garlic, sliced
few sprigs rosemary

1. Place olive oil, garlic and rosemary in a saucepan. Heat until just below boiling point.

2. Allow to cool. Strain oil into jars or bottles.

Add extra flavourings if liked. Seal well.

Use for drizzling onto salads, vegetables or bread. It also makes great dressings.

Note - Try other flavourings such as sliced fresh chillies

Enjoy Suzi

I think rub mix would be nice...I've been using them all summer for my ribs and would be nice to jar some up and give to others that like to bbq or just to use when baking meats.

This one is for ribs but could use for other things...

Rub mix

1 TBS salt

1 TBS granulated sugar

2 TBS dark brown sugar, packed

1 TBS chile powder

1/2 TBS onion powder

1/2 TBS garlic powder

1 TBS ground ginger

1/2 TBS pepper

2 TBS paprika

Mix all in a bowl and put into jars with cover...

Note: This makes enough for two uses depending on size of rib slab.

We make a "mean" bar b que sauce at our house.  I can tell you what is in the base, but not how much, because it goes by how our senses are affected.  When it is right, it now only passes the taste test, but it makes my mouth water.....lol

Starts with either ketchup or tomato sauce (ketchup is sweeter)

Brown sugar

Liquid smoke

garlic

and then the spices really begin....just go wild on what you like.  Dh likes to add a little red pepper, but I prefer to keep it sweet and smokey over fire in your mouth!!
