I have limited space in my small apartment for recyle bins. So, if I have to choose certain items to save and recyle what would they be?

I supposed it depends on what you have the most of, but my first answer would be paper. That seems to be the one thing most of us get a lot of.

I have to say paper, it doesn't take up that much space.

Aluminum, hands down. If you don't have a lot of space for the cans, by all means, crush 'em. Heck, you can even make money off 'em - sell to a scrapyard!

Aluminum cans:
Are 100% recyclable
can be created from old cans with a 60 day turnaround time
can be recycled over & over & over

It only takes 5% of the energy to recycle cans than to make them "new".

(edited to fix my dopey typos!)

I agree with imthelorax. Aluminum or misc. metals. There is still market for them and you can possibly make a little cash from them if you take them to a recycling center. If that's not an option then maybe glass. I recycle paper since I have plenty of room to store it and we have curbside recycling, but if I had to cut back it would be the first to go. Most paper/cardboard are shipped to Asia to be recycled and paper can only be recycled a finite number of times where metal can be recycled infinitely if care is taken. (My husband worked in the paper industry and I know *far* too much about paper. :D)
