Okay, I'll be the first to mention the John Edwards affair.

I question whether Elizabeth Edwards knew about the affair in 2006. Would you agree to be part of a national presidential campaign knowing that there was someone out there who could publicly, on a whim, destroy you and your children's world? Not to mention the arrogance of John Edwards putting his political party at risk if he had actually won the nomination. Something just doesn't seem right...

Am I naive or overprotective of my children to not be able to comprehend this action?

There are enough people that dismiss affairs as laughable embarrassments, regard those who view them with repugnance as quaint and old-fashioned, and hold themselves and others to a lesser standard, that someone in the political arena might have banked the people really wouldn't have cared so much.  It's also a huge assumption to guess after what anyone knows and doesn't know.  Hard to make real choices and decisions when all you have are guesses and suspicions.

I think Edwards is a total, complete jack-ass.  I feel sorry for his family.  They deserve better.

Fallen,

Hi.

<<Would you agree to be part of a national presidential campaign knowing that there was someone out there who could publicly, on a whim, destroy you and your children's world? >>

LOL.  Elizabeth would not be the first wife of a presidential candidate to have made THAt decision.  I think it is a pretty darn good guess that she wanted to be First Lady as much as he wanted to be president.

<<Am I naive or overprotective of my children to not be able to comprehend this action?>>

Not naive at all.  I would bet that you are most like people and wouldn't be willing to make most of the sacrifices that people in politics have to make in order to achieve a high office.  That would make you healthy, in my book.  It is those who ARE willing to live that life who I personally worry about.

Blade,

Hi.

<<someone in the political arena might have banked the people really wouldn't have cared so much.>>

Well, maybe someone was stupid enough to think that way, but I doubt anyone around HIM did.  Not in this country.  And I'm willing to bet a ton of dough that his wife didn't think that way for a  single second.  If he were a bankable candidate at the time this came out, he'd be toast.  Clinton dodged it during his campaign and then looked what happened.  Most everyone who can vote now remembers that fiasco.

<<I think Edwards is a total, complete jack-ass.  I feel sorry for his family.  They deserve better.>>

LOL.  Hard to argue with that!  But, this is not his first moment of being a member of that elite species of animals, I'm again willing to bet that same ton of dough.

Oh, I'm not saying for a moment it wasn't a stupid way of thinking.  But I tend to think the thinking that goes into affairs is stupid anyway.

Hope you're doing okay, Flying.
