BARBIE!  Yes, our beloved Barbie doll turns 50 today!  In honor of Barbie, tell us your story about Barbie in your life growing up.  Did you play with Barbies?  Did you have any of the cars or homes that were produced for her?  Any favorite outfits?  Did you have Skipper and Ken, too?  Share your Barbie tales!

Love, LOVE, LoVeD my Barbies.  Had a bunch of them and a ton of clothes.  My aunt made me cool stuff in addition to the trips to Daytons to get outfits for them.  I had a van that looked like the van from Scooby Do, I think my Mom got it at a garage sale but I liked it.  Sadly, I never got the Barbie dream house:(  But my friend had it, so it was all good;)

I think I only had one Ken, no Skipper.  I wish I would have saved some of it.  Between my sisters and the Goodwill, I have nothing left:(

Barbie, her siblings and Ken played a huge part in my growing up years.  I think I played with Barbies until the 6th grade.  My girlfriends and I loved creating fantasy stories.  My grandmother had the original Barbie created 50 years ago - still in the original box.  She created and made us incredible Barbie outfits.  I had a real mink stole, tennis dresses, jammies, evening gowns, bridal dresses...  I also remember a Barbie theater.. but where it disappeared to a short time later I'll never know.  I have rarely seen any since.  My kids had the Barbie cars and I was forever sucking up Barbie high heels with the vacuum.   My sisters and I loved Barbies as did my girls.  Our former dog, Bess, used to get so jealous of the girls spending time with their Barbies and not her, so she would lay right in the middle of all of their dolls and clothes.  So, DH's mom bought Bess a fabric Barbie all for her very own.  She would be on the floor with that doll inbetween her front paws.  Sure wish I had a picture of that now... sob.. I miss Bess.  So what do I do with all of those Barbie items now?
