...do you want Obama to tackle? 

He proposed many many things - some specifically and some more vague - while campaigning and he obviously can't do everything all at once. 

Everybody is excited for change, so what are the 3 specific issues you want him to take on in his first year as President?  How do you expect him to bring about change on these issues and in what kind of a timeline?

 

 

I'd like us to be actively out of Iraq in 2 years. Once we go somewhere, we are there forever, we still send people to Korea.

I really want to see the energy plan "go" ASAP and the job creation that goes along with it. (That's 2, I suppose)

I'd like to see a nationwide healthcare plan (even if it is just giving the states money to make it available for everyone) go into effect before his third year is over.

I wonder how pratical my timelines are?

Well, I'm a dreamer and I like to think big...

1. I'd like Obama to begin to repair our reputation with the rest of the world. I feel that we are viewed as rogue right about now and hated by many throughout and I think we need to reach out to those who feel threatened by the US, so we in turn can feel safer than we do right now.

2. I'd love to see a universal healthcare plan put into place.

3. I'd love to see the Obama administration put a plan together to get the economy back on track with the help of the American people. I think that for so many of us (and when I say this, I specifically think ME), we have lived high on the hog and have expected to have a certain lifestyle that isn't in step with our actual income. In tandem with realigning ourselves, I'd love the jobs to become abundant so that people can earn money for themselves to secure their present and their future.

All this while trying to balance the budget ;-)

Not good at plotting a time line for this, I just want to move in that direction during Obama's tenure.

Am I too lofty?

The economy.  Plain and simple, this in my mind is the biggest issue that needs to be tackled.  I recognize that we didn't get here overnight and that it won't be fixed by the end of January.  But, if there is one thing I want him to focus on from Day 1, it would be this.

Iraq.  We need to get out of there.  I don't think we can do that overnight, either.  I don't think his 18 month timeline is unreasonable or out of reach.  But I do think we can stop pumping money in to that country, given the fact that they have enormous surpluses now.  We do, however, need to focus a bit more on Afghanistan.  THAT is where we should have put our focus on to begin with.

Energy.  I would like to see some serious effort being focused on developing alternative solutions to meet our energy needs.  Again, not something that you can really put a timeline on, but definitely something our country has to devout resources to.

   
   

While it is going to be a huge task the economy has got to be dealt with, I have no suggestions for that but that's why he surrounds himself with the very best people.

I think he needs to start repairing our relationships with the rest of the world immediately, we need to earn the trust and respect we used to have before this war started.

Which brings me to ending this war, we need to end it and we need to get out. 

I must say I am very excited and very hopeful, my cup runneth over.
