Hi everyone,  I am not PG yet but have been thinking about a few things and thought I would ask you all for advice.  I am going to call my OB soon to ask... but just wanted some other opinions since I am getting a bit concerned.

I have had severe problems with my sinuses over the past ten years (3 sinus surgeries, and probably have both fungal and bacterial sinusitis).  I was on inhaled cortisteroids and also oral steroids for many many years which made me have an adrenal insufficiency.  Finally after a year and a half I am finally normal again.  I have  been feeling generally well and I am finally off ALL my meds since June.

Problem is I still have congestion.  I do irrigate by sinuses but I don't see a big difference.  I am having trouble breathing well and my husband says I sound like darth vadar at night - or like I am gargling water in my nose.  I really don't feel refreshed when I wake up and it is hard to breathe and get to sleep sometimes.  Sorry TMI - I can write a book about my mucus - just gross.

I was wondering how safe it would be to use something like nasacort AQ during pregnancy?  My ENT has suggested thatI should use a topical steroid (like plumicort respules) it is an asthma medice that I would put into the water and just let it sit in my nose.  Of course every website out there says that it is not recommended.. but I am getting nervous about what will happen to me when I get pregnant - someday.

I have already put off getting pregnant b/c I haven't been well for a while.  So, any advice - along with my doctors - would be helpful.

One more thing... allergy meds do nothing (benedryl, claritin, zrytec, etc...)

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long long post.

When I was pg, my OB said it was safe to take nasal sprays - because so little ends up in your blood stream.  At the time I was on Nasonex and I took it during my whole pregnancy (and breastfeeding).  I don't know anything about Nasacort but I would think a topical steriod would be OK (because I think Nasonex is a steriod).

I didn't hesitate (once I got OB approval) to keep taking allergy med and the spray while pg because I would've been miserable without it.
