Metronidazole is rated an L2 (safer) medication in Dr. Hale's book. The amount of medication baby would receive through breastmilk is higher than some other antibiotics, but metronidazole is "a commonly used drug in premature neonates, infants, and children" Dr Hale also says "Numerous studies show no untoward effects"
