I'm going to answer my own question and get it out of the way.

I'm SOOOOO happy its done now. Mainly because I have finals in six weeks, sooo have to focus on that more than anything. But more importantly than that - - - NO MORE ADS!!! I hate-hate-hate political ads. So now it's done, yay.

I'm excited to see there's a change - but if McCain had won, I would feel the same way. I don't think the same-old does a very good job with a changing public, specially a discontented changing public. (Discontented according to media, I should say.)

I'm relieved I don't have to care about voting for awhile. lol. But a bit worried that it's swinging very far democrat. I have no problem with democrats, just the idea of one way always will bother me. I like two sides to at least come up on issues, just to double check things. I mean how many things have we done, that we've had to undo because we didn't listen that well to the other side? Not like being split even gets too much done though... sigh, I'll never be content on that.

I'm not upset at all. The swing is something I'm just going to be watching, but after hearing the two speeches, I really have to say I liked both candidates as possibilities. Both of them had down falls, but they both had really good qualities, and all of that shown through in their speech.

I am noticing some of my friends are really bitter, which I don't get cause two of them didn't vote! Don't be angry when you didn't do anything! But I'm sure in a week everything will calm down to normal, and that's what I'm most excited about. Normalcy, and then once Obama hits office, still normalcy with the possibility of changes.

Oh, I'm worried people are going to get annoyed at the lack of instant change. We like things done fast, but I worry if we do them fast, we won't think them through. Plus, doing anything instant usually is hard, specially when you try to do it with an entire country. Change, any change from anyone, takes time, in my opinion...

But YAY. It's over. Now I can go to bed, and then start studying. lol.

Are you relieved?

*** Yes. I'm glad that it's finally over because I was very sick of the commericals on the radio & tv, the political mail, the phone calls, etc.

happy?

*** Not really. I wanted McCain to win, and I'm really not happy that Obama wound up winning.

upset?

*** Yes. Like I said in the above question, I wanted McCain to win and I'm very disappointed that he lost.

worried?

*** Very. I'm not going to go into my reasons for being worried, as I don't feel like getting into a debate about it.

curious about anything?

*** not really

Did you watch any speeches?

*** I watched both McCain & Obama's speech. McCain was very gracious and humble in his speech, and I thought it spoke a lot about his character. Obama's speech was also very good.

Did you (or could you) vote?

*** Yes. I voted by mail-in ballot a couple of weeks ago.

Does it even matter to you? What about it does matter to you?

*** It matters very much too me. I enjoy following politics, and I am interested in seeing what Obama is going to do as President. I'm also interested to what Sarah Palin's future may bring.

Are you relieved?

*** Completely and totally.  That would be my number one feeling, besides elation.

happy?

*** Thrilled.

upset?

*** Nope, but I was kinda bummed the Senate did not get the 60 seats Democrats needed.

worried?

*** I am concerned about people being all over Obama for not "fixing" everything immediately, but he can handle it.  The Repubs are going to want to attack him from day two, it's just politics.

curious about anything?

*** what kind of puppy the Obama kids will choose!  ;)

Did you watch any speeches?

*** Yep, I thought they both were great.  I was very impressed by McCain's though, as he displayed himself in a light that was so much more positive to me than his entire smear campaign.  I actually felt bad for him and his family.

Did you (or could you) vote?

*** Yes. I always vote.

Does it even matter to you? What about it does matter to you?

*** It matters a lot.  Who runs this country plays a pivitol role in the rights individuals have, and I was very concerned about the Supreme Court, Roe v Wade, gay rights, etc.

Yeah- I hope all this "change" doesn't take too long and the "change" is in the right direction. Or at least, a better direction. As in, improvement.

And I also hope that next time around, there will be more support for other candidates, as a choice of two is like the (flat) sides of a coin- one or the other, "chance" more than "choice".

Besides, more choice makes life interesting.

First, in response to your questions:

Are you relieved? happy?

*** I wouldn't describe my feelings as being relieved at all, but happy fits well. I am positively euphoric that Obama won, and by so many electoral votes!! The reason I wouldn't say I'm relieved are many. First, I actually enjoyed the election. I don't have a TV so I didn't watch many commercials and wasn't subjected to that. But I heard all the speeches (online or on NPR) and all the debates. I know a lot of people thought it was very dragged out and are sick of it all after two years, but I thought the whole process was interesting and exciting!! That's not to say I'm disappointed that it's over, I was very happy when the day finally came. But I did enjoy the process. The other reason I'm not really relieved is that I fully expected Obama to win. I might be relieved if I was worried he wouldn't but like I said yesterday, It felt more like I Christmas Eve to me in that I felt like I was waiting for something I knew would happen, but knowing it would happen didn't take away any of the excitement or anticipation. I had some kind of news source in front of me every waking moment yesterday. I fell asleep listening to NPR last night and woke up to it (my alarm clock goes off with NPR) this morning. I am happy, excited, and very very emotional. And I wasn't alone in feeling that way in Seattle. This whole city was one huge wild party here last night. I heard fireworks going off outside my house. People were dancing in the streets in the neighborhood just south of me and it was so loud, I could here them parting from here (they're about 4 miles away). A spontaneous celebratory parade broke out downtown. People were singing and celebrating in the U District. And champaign was consumed in large quantities all over the city. People were hugging and kissing perfect strangers. Everyone was so happy! I have never seen anything like it and I loved being a part of it!!

upset?
*** Yes, I am that too, but not about the president. Prop 8 in California passed which will amend the constitution to ban same-sex marriage. I am so deeply affected by this and am so disappointed in California. This kind of backward thinking and blatant hateful prejudice is so disheartening to me!! I was on the phone with my sister last night at about 3 in the morning. Both of us were too excited to sleep, but she was also watching the news about Prop 8. When it finally looked like it was going to pass, both of us lost a lot of our excitement and the conversation got a bit gloomy. And this morning I found out Arkansas (I think it was Arkansas, it might have been another state) had a proposition pass that mandated that un-married couples cannot adopt kids. Essentially, the prop was targeted at gay people who want to adopt and obviously can't get married. It just makes me so sad and angry at the same time. And ashamed to be living in a country that treats it's people this way.

worried?
**No, I'm not worried.

curious about anything?
**No. I am interested to see how all of this unfolds, but I wouldn't say that I'm specifically curious. Just excited and interested to see what lies ahead.

Did you watch any speeches?
**I watched both speeches and was very impressed with both. Although my feelings on McCain's stances on the issues have not changed. I agreed with Obama and disagreed with McCain on every point of contention between the two. But my feelings toward McCain as a person have waxed and waned throughout the campaigns. His speech last night really earned him my respect. I was a bit upset at the booing the crowed did when he mentioned Obama, but he seemed genuinely off-put by it and I think his speech was a step in the right direction in bringing everyone together and heeling a lot of the bad feelings people on opposite sides of things are feeling toward each other. I felt Obama's speech was absolutely breathtaking and inspiring. I got teary eyed -- I found it to be very moving.

Did you (or could you) vote?
**Yes, I voted. Although the majority of people in my state vote via mail, I really enjoy going in and casting my vote on the day. So I went in and voted in person.

Does it even matter to you? What about it does matter to you?
**I think you can tell from my previous responses that these issues are deeply important to me. I am very affected in so many ways by what is going on right now. It has been a very emotional couple of days.
