I'm currently writing a fan fiction based off a video game called Tales of Vesperia which on x box 360.  I have also written pure fantasy stories which are completely my creations.  In my own writing I tend to place my setting on another planet or another plane of existence so I have freedom to do what I want.

Oh by the way, I'm Stephanie and I just joined I-Village like five minutes ago.  I'm 29 years old, I'm graphic designer for an advertising agency.  I live in Northeast Arkansas, and work in Memphis, TN.

From one southern gal to another... welcome to the board and iVillage! We're always glad to see a new face and hope you'll make this your new home.

Your work in progress sounds interesting; I seem to recall my oldest son telling me about the Tales of Vesperia game. Other world fantasies are really fun cause there's no limit to the possibilities. ;-)

Yeah it is because I used to try to write about the Earth in fantasy and I had trouble with having places wrong, which would drive a reader crazy so I was like forget this I'll make my own world, now I never really say its another plane of existence or just another planet it's not that important really but, its not earth. That's partly why I choose to do a Tales of Vesperia fan fiction because its not earth so I don't have to worry about stuff. Plus I had a real issue with Yeager dying in the story. Yeager one the villains but, he's supposed to be an immortal like Raven the Great so I'm like I don't believe he's dead so I been doing a story where Raven is investigating the rebuilding of Leviatian's claw and Yeager's return. In a story, I'm calling the Raven Files. Which Raven one of the members of Brave Vesperia but he's not the star character but, I really liked Raven so I decided to give him a story where he's the star.

I lean towards the paranormal side of science fiction, that are set in various periods of history.  Mine have alot of romance in them (since I write them for my mother) and are strongly based on various themes of vampires, werewolves, aliens and that sort of thing.  I like to have a little basis of "fact" so I do quite a bit of research, but I bend the rules to suit my own needs.

My name is Rosalie, I too am minutes old to ivillage.  I am 34 years old, live in Ohio and work in the healthcare industry (boring paperwork stuff for insurance companies).  I am a terrible writer, but they say practice makes perfect, so we will see.

Hi Stephanie,

That's a smart thing to do in lots of ways, once you begin writing about a real place a lot of history comes into play. I end up doing days of research for just one or two paragraphs, much less a story setting, takes days, maybe years just to make sure nothing is incorrect.
