Well for me first thing I would do is pay off the student loan I have over my head.  With that in the past I probably try moving from Short Stories to a full length book.  I write mostly short stories because I don't have the time for a long project.  Getting out from under my constant debt so I can focus on other things would help.

I like wrting short stories too for the same reason. I had a lot of fun beginning a book, I got well into it but then I've becomes so busy trying to make ends meet and helping with my new granddaughter I  haven't had time to touch it. Maybe one day.

Just keep at it and one day you'l haave plenty f stories and you can make a book out of them. It's hard to find time to even read a full length novel these days so short stories are great for busy people.

I think that winning the lottery makes writing a heck of a lot easier.  First of all, the concerns about money wouldn't be holding me back (as in-I could be doing something that makes money instead of writing words that are likely never going to be read).  Secondly, having that much money opens up a ton of time (I could afford a maid-YAY!) which means a ton more time for writing.  And finally, with my living already beyond comfortable I could focus on the joy of writing instead of some nebulous idea of possibly being published (which infects everything I write and how I feel about everything I write now).

Writing takes up so much time that if you let it take over there's is not time for anything else like cleaning house or even eating properly So a maid and cook would be a difinate plus :)

I'm looking at your signature and it appears that you have a baby girl in your houselhold. My daughter delivered my granddaughter Lily on March 28th. Looks like these girls birthdays are about as close as their names. I've been with them practicaly the entire time since she came into our lives.

Life can be pretty full especially with an infant!!! and it's very hard to find time to write. So in between now and winning the lottery it takes establishing a firm routine and sticking schedule to get everything done. The truth is for us anyhow the having the baby is winning the lottery. It's just coordinating everything else.

I work at home so I can help with taking care of her, but even with the two of us she takes up every minute of the day and things don't get done. Meanwhile our excuse for being here is remodling parts of the house so there is another whole project impacting the order of things. The baby sleeps through the night, so her mom and dad are pretty lucky, but when they are all sleeping is about the only time I can find uninterruppted to work. So my schedule is a doozy, and she hasn't even started crawling yet.

How are you managing? Are you a stay at home mom? Do you work outside the home? Is Lillian crawling yet?

I do SAH with Lily.  It wasn't planned, but with her early and scary start to life it became mandatory (daycare won't take a baby on oxygen and monitors and medication-and daycare germs are DEFINITELY not good for her).  She takes up the majority of my day.  I'm not getting very much done at all.  However, making a to-do list for each day has helped me get some things done.  What has kept me from writing the most is actually that we moved at the beginning of this month, so I've spent my days chasing my daughter (who is scooting and desperately trying to crawl but not quite getting the coordination of arms and legs) and unpacking one box at a time.
