All of the above (although I admit that I rarely use best seller lists nor do I rely much on the recommendations of family) --- plus my mood at the time!
i have to agree with ruth and carol and say all of them. i have certain authors that it's a must that i get their books. i look at recommendations on here and other ivillage book groups and i do have favorite genres that i read. there are a lot of factors when i go to decide what books i am going to read.
I'm a lifetime fan of biographies and history. I used to read a variety of books, but since my time has been so limited because of this, that and the other, I stick to my very favorites now.
