Just can't get into a lot of the newer mysteries - maybe its just that my favorite series stopped or they just seem too "fluffy" - but if youre tapped out on the new stuff here are a few writers that were my favorites
Jane Rubino - the Cat Austen+Victor Cardenas series - great romance, great mysteries
Virginia Lanier - the Bloodhound Books - NOT your average dog mystery, great settings+background
Kate Ross - there were only 4 of her Regency mysteries before she passed away
Rhys Bowen - the Constable Evans series - think she just started another one
SJ Rozan - the Lydia Chin+Bill Smith books, some won awards
David Walker
Jane Isenberg
Truly Donovan
All still on my shelves - and a lot of times I go back to reread one of them before I hit up the library for a new one.

What a timely post!

I, too, prefer older mysteries. I've never read any of these authors, though. Maybe I should give some a try.

Thanks!

I loved her books as well. I was anxiously awaiting another book in the series  when I heard that she passed away.
