From Publishers Weekly
When medical examiner Isles studies an X-ray scan of Madame X, which everyone assumes is a newly discovered Egyptian mummy, at Boston's Crispin Museum, she realizes the mummy isn't a priceless artifact but a recent murder victim, gruesomely preserved. Rizzoli focuses the police investigation on Dr. Josephine Pulcillo, a young archeologist recently hired by the museum who may have something to hide. More victims soon turn up, including a tsantsa (shrunken head) in a hidden museum chamber and a corpse resembling a well-preserved bog body in Pulcillo's car. After Pulcillo disappears, Rizzoli and Isles must scramble to find her before she becomes another trophy in the killer's growing collection. As usual, Gerritsen delivers an intricate plot that will keep readers guessing.

Excellent story....Hubby and I listened to this traveling across country...and both really loved it....Lots of suspense, action, and twists and turns in the plot!  Hugs, Ruth

Hi Ruth ~ I've read Tess Gerritsen's The Bone Garden, The Surgeon, & Life Support and must have about eight of her other books, including The Keepsake. Just too many on my TBR stack. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I've read pro & con about The Bone Garden but I enjoyed it mostly because of the historical setting & facts that were alternately weaved in between a present-day story. I rarely get to listen to books on tape anymore because I retired and don't drive any distance anymore. I just sit and read them.

Oh-- I saw in my guide that PBS (Masterpiece Theatre) is presenting A Place of Execution. I read the book (by Val McDermid) ten years ago and am re-reading it again before watching the BBC movie. It will air Nov 1 (part 1) and Nov 8 (part 2). If you like Gerritsen I think you will enjoy both the movie and the book. Heard good things about the movie (reviewed) already and the book was short-listed for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Mystery Novel.

Harriet
