I believe that if one of my children received a Hogwarts letter I would be THRILLED! I would definitely let them go. Education is important and is especially so if you're blessed with magical powers. How would you learn to control and hone your abilities without the proper instruction? Although I'll have to admit I would miss my kiddos terribly while they were gone. After Ginny went off to school I wondered how Mrs. Weasley managed on her own. What kind of things does she get up to when her children are all away??? I imagine life as a witch mum would be similar in that regard, to life as a muggle mum.

I'll have to say though, I am very glad all of this is just in good fun. The idea of an actual real live Voldemort in the world terrifies me!!!

Hi Pat,

If I did have a child to send to Hogwarts, I most definately would. I think the teachers are awesome and they are dedicated to their skill. I do think they would use it, if need be, after all they are magical folk, right? If all of them combined their magic, they would all be a force to reckon with.

If I did have children to send to Hogwarts, I would love to receive owls from their instructors, especially Professor McGonical, telling me how my child can transfigure a object with the greatest of ease and not cause a whole disaster in the house. lol!

Anyway, great question and I'll keep lurking just to read the discussions,

Thanks and Happy Fourth of July!!

Sebastian

Oh my!  What a great question!  Would I send my children to Hogwarts?  Heck yes!

I think that the realization that my kids would have a special talent (being magical) would certainly be something.  Receiving an owl, or a visit from a professor at the school to explain things would be nerve-wracking and completely thrilling at the same time.  I would be sad to send my kids away for an entire school year, but would be excited that they would have such a fantastic opportunity.

Being a true Muggle, I would have no idea of the danger that they may possibly encounter (strange plants, hexes, potions).  Is ignorance bliss?  Possibly!  LoL!  And of course, the real danger....Voldemort. Hopefully, we will find out soon that Harry defeats him when the final book comes out!

There are risks and dangers and chances in everything in life.  I am pretty sure that I would be reassured of my childrens safety at the school!  And given the chance to have them learn and hone some incredible skills....why should I hold them back from that!

I must admit, that if my children received notice that they would be attending Hogwarts, I would be a bit jealous!  Imagine how incredibly amazing that would be!
