I have to answer my own Friday Five...
1) Caramelly. Sure, Twix are good, especially refrigerated. Also Mars (known as Milky Way in the US), there is a similar candy in a box of Sees too.
I also like "Old Jamaica", which is Cadbury's close equivalent to the Ritter Sport "Rum Raisin and Hazlenut" bar.
I also like British style peanut brittle, which is like the Indian Chikki, but without the cardamon.
2) What is your favourite John Candy movie?
I think Uncle Buck used to be, but I've kinda grown out of JC.
3) Have you ever been to a candy factory tour?
We live about 80 miles from a Jelly Belly factory, and have done their tour. One summer we drove to NY from SF, paying a visit to the Hershey Factory in PA. They had a kinda cheesy ride that took you through an exhibit of what the chocolate process is. The same trip continued on to the UK, and we got to see the Cadbury factory in Bournville.
Of course in the UK there are plenty of places where they make seaside rock (rolled hard candy) and in the US you can't got to a tourist town without seeing salt water taffy being pulled. I have yet to do the Ghiradelli tour ( I think they have/had one in SF).
4) Have you ever made any candy?
So I have made fudge, caramel and peppermint patties. I have also made shaped candies out of almond paste/marzipan.
5) Have you ever had a nightmare involving candy, soda or washing machines?
I seem to remember no such dreams. Though in my youth did work with my dad, he was a caterer, and we provided refreshments stands at various events. One did lead me to dreaming about cakes all night.
