Pretty much a "girlie" question
My DD, Mizz Jillian, is hooked on the True Blood books. Being a snob, I shook my head in disappointment every time she and her friends talked about them. After much nagging, I acquiesced and watched two episodes on HBO and, like I imagined, hated it. Well, DD said, of course the books are better than a filmed version; isn't that always the case?
She wore me down, people. For this oh-so glorious week of All Things Scary, I borrowed the first book in the True Blood series from her bowing shelves. I'm embarrassed to announce: I LOVE IT! Cracked it open last night and was addicted by page twelve.
My question(s# is/are: How many of you have read the series, or are reading it now? Is it just me (Anne Rice is Queen!), or are you also too mortified to admit it? Calling the writing sophomoric is a gross understatement, but I'm beyond engrossed, so I don't care who knows. Well, maybe just a little -- I don't plan to whip Charlaine Harris out in my Gyno's waiting room any time soon.
