again.  Logan, 100% German Shepard, 8 weeks old male.  If you remember, I got Zach to help a depressed Nahja after Trouble passed away.  Now Logan to ease Zach's (and mine) grief.  Not entirely honest though — one look at this pup, who so closely resembles my dear Mace, how could I resist?  I miss Mace constantly.  Nahja & Trouble were actually my son's dogs.  He had to leave them here when he flew the nest thirteen years ago, but Mace — Mace was my dog.

You know what's scary?  Thinking he'll probably be the last dog.  Seriously.  I'm 53, his 13-15 year lifespan will bring me up to 68.  I'm fairly certain that at 68 I won't want to toilet train a puppy.  He is a wonder, a gift from the gods.  I do believe my doggy days will end on a high note.

Congrats on the pup. Dogs or cats (depends on your preference) are great companions and friends, and while you may not want to toilet train at that age, you can always get a rescue that already is. I would be lost without my dogs.

Welcome to the latest member of your household.  Well, it has been nearly two weeks; by now Logan must be fully immersed in his new digs, and having a very happy time.  I also heard of many elderly people getting trained animals as companons, to the benefit of both.

Smiling. So glad you did. Logan. Hardy name. I can hear the joy in your tone.

I see you saw my new girl. OMG she is amazing. She's a rescue lab mix. My kids have been so happy. My 14 year old is in love with her, so much so, he's distracted with Nina and not bothering his younger brothers as much. Nina has been such a blessing in our household. She was well worth the wait.

Pat- thank you for sharing your experiences with your dogs; and how you feel about Mace. It's strange, Nina has only been here since last Sat, but I really can't imagine how it would be without her. Where as imagine all the time how it will be with my kids out of the house! hmf. I may need therapy.

I got a 8 year old full blood German Shepard girl.  She's so sweet, if you never had one before Pat you in for a treat, the german sherpard one of the smartest breeds, and one of the most loyal breeds as well.
