Just wondering if anyone is participating in NanoWriMo this year? I signed up just for the heck of it, although, I doubt I'll reach 50,000 words by month's end. But I can dream ;)

A Writer on the verge. A Writer on the brink. A Writer weary to the point she can hardly think! Her manuscripts are dog-eared, her pens are out of ink, computer's gone on strike and the printer's on the blink. But nothing will prevent her from writing through the night, glad for all she must endure to live the writing life.

I attempted Nano during my sophomore year of college. Suffice it to say, it was ill-fated: I think I made it to about 3k. Right now, I'm in the midst of the first revision of my novel and getting this novel to a point where I'll actually let other people look at it is definitely the priority over any new major fiction projects. The last thing I need is another partially formed novel! I already have four of those and only one, the current wip, is anywhere closed to "completed." :)

Best of luck Tori and keep dreaming! Maybe I'll drag out one of those partial novels next November, but not this year.

My old friend Julius once said something about not wanting to belong to any organization that would accept him as a member. Like Groucho, I'll skip the sign up for NaNoWriMo.

As usual though, I'll use the idea. It's usually some sort of practice for WriLiMarCha. I hope it brings time for the rewrite of my cookbook this year.

National Novel Writing Month has been a brilliant idea from the start. It's wonderful to see how it has grown. It even seems to work from the sidelines.

I'm giving it a whirl this year. Though I signed up a few years ago and always seemed to get busy with other things. But I'm going to see how it goes. If anything it will just be a step to getting myself writing again.

I did it the past four years, and gained a lot of techniques and process that have helped me in my full time writing life. I went beyond the 50K each time. I mentored for three years, too, which was a mixture of joy and frustration.

I can't do it this year because of paid, contracted deadlines and constant travel. I also realized that I write more than 50K in any given month -- it's just not all on one project.

I miss it, but this year it didn't make sense to do it. Maybe I'll get to do it in a future year. Of the four projects I wrote, one is under consideration, one is almost ready for submission, and the other two are in rewrites.

anything done in Nano, I found, needs far more revision that my normal pace, due to the emphasis on quantity instead of quality.
