Domestic Abuse Support

How do you reconcile the nasty, abusive behavior with the sweet and loving behavior?  Seriously, one reason I've stayed for so long is that there are times when he is wonderful.  This morning, our DD came and got into bed with us.  I got up to take a shower and I could hear them in there laughing and giggling.  He was being so sweet and loving to her. 

Which is the "real" person?  One minute he's being very sweet and nice and the next minute he's screaming at me or the kids, etc.  I just don't get it.

There is no telling who the real person is. And it does suck that they can be so great and yet choose to not be that way all the time but not realizing what jerks they are at times!

Oops forgot to say this is one reason we always suggest keeping a journal. When they start being nice it is easy to downplay the carp they pulled. It would be nice if they were nice all the time but it never last. It shows that they could be good if they wanted to.
