...I can't believe the difference!...last year, while happy to not be drinking a bottle of wine every night...I missed it!...I missed being one of the "pretty" people that I see on movies...it was painful to watch Michael Ciarello (sp?) on FoodTV (he always makes such great dishes and has a great wine in a great glass in front of a great setting with other really great looking people drinking it with him while enjoying a great California sunset....)...one year later and I don't give it a lot of thought...I still consider the wine he pairs and what it's flavor would be...but, my first thought is always..."if Michael had invited me over he, along with the other pretty, moderate wine drinking people would be disgusted by me guzzling a bottle (if only that much) by myself instead of eating the delicious food..."...I heard about "freedom" and I have it...I honestly don't miss drinking...don't think about drinking...I savor the rested, peaceful (with 3 boys...19, 14, and 9...how peaceful can it be?...well...it was a lot less peaceful with a bottle of wine added in) life that I now lead...I am so grateful that I didn't waste years as I wasted enough as it was...but, I am fit, healthy, and happy...with children and a husband that are no longer worried about me...the best thing though?...my mind is free...the amount of time and thought and planning that drinking took are used for truly "me" thoughts now...I hope that you are all enjoying your day...

One year is awesome!!!  I know exactly what you mean about Michael.  I have one of his cookbooks from Easy Entertaining.  Even at 9 months sober I still flip past his show, it's just not the same.  I loved to cook dinner with my wine and watch Giada too.  Now, I am not on glass 3 by the end of dinner and crashing on the couch at 9:00 and waking up with heart palpitations at 2:00am and pushing off the alarm buzzer at 5:30 with feelings of shame that I drank too much again.

So, I CELEBRATE with you because I know how good it feels to be free from the alcohol obsession and life is good! Hard work but well worth it! I am happy, happy, happy for you!
