Hi...I am new here.  My boyfriend was diagnosed today with double slipped disc.  He has been in unbelievable pain and has been bedridden since last Saturday.

To back track a little he was diagnosed with a bulging disc (which I am still having trouble determined exactly what that is) about 20 years ago (he is 39).  In July we were in a car accident in which we were t-boned when a car ran a red light and slammed into right side of the cab we were in (we live in NYC).  We were both taken to the hospital I was treated and released with minor bruising, he was kept overnight for possible head injury.  His head injury was minor bruising which healed in a  couple of weeks but his back was still bothering him.  Dr sent him for therapy for the back and allowed him to return to work, he was getting better (he was chasing me around no problem).  This is now mid August.  Oh...yes he is suing.

In the last week his back got significantly worse.  The dr ordered an MRI which was done last Wed (Sept 2nd).  He is a campus public safety officer which requires he wears a heavy belt with radio, flashlight, etc. plus do a lot of walking and/or sitting for long periods of time.  Last Saturday he ended up working a double shift, sitting for practically 16 hours and doing very little walking.  Since then he has been bedridden.

He went to dr this morning when he found out about the double slipped disc.  The dr just gave him a prescription for vicoden and order more physical therapy.  The same therapy he has been receiving from which I haven't seen much benefit since he has gotten worse.  Is this dr doing the right thing?  I haven't met the dr but from what bf is telling me I don't like him much.  Dr doesn't seem to be listening to his concerns.  From everything I have read in the last few days being bedridden this long is not good and will prolong his recovery.
