American Thanksgiving is nearly upon us, and this is usually the time where we take stock and count our blessings for the year.

For many of us it has not been an easy year, but from our different conversations this year you have all mentioned things in your life that you are grateful for. Please share some the things you are grateful for this year.

What are your Thanksgiving plans? Are you spending it with family? With friends?

When I actually stop and thing about this, I feel blessed that there's much to be thankful for!  A short list LOL

  • a home
  • healthy, loving grown children who still like to visit
  • decent insurance
  • medical science and the continual influx of new treatments
  • friends who care
  • a hopeful new government
  • aging gracefully  : )

Hello Poppi,

I have a lot to be thankful for:

1)My surgery this Tuesday went very well. Hospital stay was pretty good about 80% of the time. I hated the soft beds and people coming in and out of my room.

2)I am home, sweet home! In my sanctuary! In my own bed! I thank God that my home is my sanctuary and hardly ever feel stressed here.

3)My mom has improved, thanks to IV and peg tubes. She had a stroke about a month ago. This past weekend I went up to see her before I got down myself with my surgery. She was not well at all. Not eating, not opening her mouth, not drinking, not opening her eyes. Me and my entire family are so thankful for these medical inventions. Once she got water and nourishment in her body, she slowly came around. She went and watched a group play bingo at the nursing home. We know that she will probably be on it for as long as she lives. Which at 85 may not be long.

4)Singing Gospel songs with my mom Sunday. Although she didn't open her eyes to look at me, she did sing along me.

5)Good health insurance. It covered my weightloss surgery revision from lapband to sleeve and anything else.

6)Disability income on my job. I will get a regular paycheck while out for 4 weeks.

7)My sisters being with me at my home while I am recovering.

8)Getting started this year with my bartendering business. I got my ad up and going. I pray for favor. That I have some gigs lined up for the big wedding season in 2009 spring and summer.

9)Not allowing my job, or weight or family issues to totally get me down. Or to define me. I am more than my job, my family or weight. Way more!!

10)Family and their health and wellbeing.

11)God protecting my 16 year niece this past Thursday night , from being kidnapped, rapped and or killed. She just started working at a local fastfood place less than a mile away from home. She only works about 16-20hrs a week part time. She got off at 8 last night and was walking home. Two men in large van tried to grab her. She fought and screamed and ran down the street to a police officer. Talk about scary! And I am proud that she didn't go quitely. We tell all of our little ones to make as much noise as possible. Her being noisy scared them off. From now on she isn't walking to or from work anymore. It is unfortunate that an teenage girl cannot walk home less, than a mile away with fear of being raped or killed.

11)Barack Obama won the US presidency! The volunteer work I did was not in vain! I made a difference. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for this historic event.

Sorry for the long post! My sleeping is up and down while in recovery. So I decided to post.

Later:)
