Wow.  I have never felt so tired.  Good thing last weekend was a long one.  I had my port placed on Aug 28th and chemo on the 29th.  I was feeling okay on the morning of the 30th, but by the afternoon I was exhasted.  I had to go back to the office for an injection the day after chemo.  I can't remember exactly what they said it was (Neustalta?????).  I really need to keep track of things better.  I have lost about 10 pounds because things just don't taste the same and I can only eat small portions.  Since I am overweight I guess it's a good thing!  I have my next chemo on 9/11.  What a day to be hooked up to a machine.  I just thought I would check in and let you guys know how things went as I start my chemo journey.  I don't know what I would have done without everyones posts re: input and tips on chemo.  By the way, all I had to take for nausea was the Emend.

Thanks

Voni

Voni--
In spite of being tired, you sound pretty chipper! I'm glad things are going well. That probably was Neulasta--they give you a shot the day after chemo to help your blood. I had side effects from that, but it did raise the blood count.

That's great about losing 10 lbs too. I'm overweight and could stand to lose a bunch, but I exited chemo the exact same weight I had when I was diagnosed. Food didn't taste good, but the things that did (and they were all high calorie!) I lived on. I had steroids that made me so hungry. I'm going to change all that this week now that my taste buds are getting back to normal. I'm still hopeful that things I didn't like before---like yogurt--will taste better now. I still haven't got back my taste for carbonated drinks.

Good luck on the rest of your treatment!
Ramona

Voni,

Good job on your first treatment.  What kind are you doing?  I found the first was the hardest  (mine was A/C) and each one got a little easier.  Now I'm doing Taxol, which has lesser side effects, in fact I only get one, bone pain, which is hard, but only lasts a couple of days :) And lots of vicodin help!!!

Good luck on your next round, I hope it gets easier for you also :)

Voni, I am not far behind you in chemotherapy. I got my port put in today and I go in for my first chemotherapy treatment on Monday. I am going to be on AC for four treatments, then I'll be switched to Taxol for 4 treatments. My treatments will be every two weeks too. You'll be having your second treatment tomorrow so I hope make it through with a little more energy. Take care of yourself.
