Hi everyone,

I've been reading a lot of the posts, doing some research using the sites all of you have suggested, and have been doing a lot of thinking lately.  I am leaning towards getting a BA done, but am not entirely sure yet.  A little bit about me.   I am 5 foot, 85lbs, 26 years old, 32A cup size, and young looking for my age.  I am constantly being told I look like I am a student at the PreK-5th grade school where I teach.  I was also diagnosed with PCOS this past May, which means that I do not ovulate on my own and having children is going to involve fertility meds for me.  The reason I share this is because it has affected my self esteem as a woman.  I already feel inadequate being so small chested, and now I cant have children naturally-that was a very hard blow for me.  So....the surgery I was always against as a child is looking a bit more inviting now.  I want to feel better about myself as woman.  The more I look at before and after pictures, the more I want to get it done.  I have talked to DH about this and he says for me to get a plan together and we'll talk about it.  This is interesting because he originally said no a few months ago.

Questions I have:  Is it possible to be too skinny and not have enough skin around the rib cage to stretch in order to get a BA done?  I would like to go from a 32A to a full B.  My whole family is very small, so gaining weight is not easy for me.  I have read high profile implants look better on thinner women because they arent so wide looking, has anyone gotten high profile implants?  Will getting a BA be okay before I have children and breastfeed them?  Will they sag or give me problems after I breastfeed?

What I am thinking so far: full B cup, smooth, round, saline, high profile, axillary incision (b/c I'd like to avoid problems with breast feeding in the future), below the muscle.

Nice to meet all of you.

Jen

Hello and welcome to the board!  I am new here as well.. had my BA done 4wks ago.. I had wanted a BA for a long time, just never sat down and did it till recently.  I can't really answer your questions..other than i don't think you can be too skinny (sounds like you aren't looking to go too big, so that shouldn't be an issue).. i am 5ft 1 and weigh 105lbs.. i was a 34a/small b and wanted to go to a full c.  I went with moderate, smooth, round saline implants.  When i asked why he chose moderate, he told me that it would give me a fuller more natural look for MY body.  I trusted his opinion.

If you decide to go forward with it, i would go for a consult and ask all your questions.  You may even want to go to two different PS and see what they say.  I went to one and was really happy with him from the moment i met him.  I was worried in the beginning that maybe i went to big, but 4wks out, i am starting to get comfortable with my new body.

I am sorry i couldnt help more, but i wanted to just share some info that i experienced:)

Hi Jen,
welcome - I am only a couple weeks away from my BA - Ive been thinking about doing this for a couple years now.I used to think - 'oh, no, I would never get implants', but my opinion of BA has changed since my body changed after kids. I also know a few people who have them so I guess it just seems more acceptable.
It sounds like you've done a lot of research. I myself wondered if I would have enough skin for breast implants as I'm only an A now & kind of bony. I'm 5'4" 115 lbs. At the consultation, the PS pretty quickly assessed the situation & told me I would be fine for either saline or silicone implants. She did say that with some women, if there is not as much skin silicone would work better. The saline implants can sometimes show rippling and it would be more pronounced on women with less to cover it. I read all of the literature I was given at the consult and decided to go with silicone as I just liked the feel better & thought it would look more natural. I am going with a moderate profile. Not really sure why except that's what the PS recommended - I really like her & trust her judgement with that. I think the high profile just is more prominent & she knew I wanted more natural.

I can't really address your breastfeeding question as I am done having children, but I think you are correct that having the auxillary insicion might be a better option with less risk for breastfeeding complications. I'm sure the PS will have some good advice on this.

anyhow - good luck!
Carrie

Welcome to the board Jen!  :-)  I can totally understand you're feelings; I felt very much the same way before my own augmentation 5 years ago.  And yes, it really did make a huge difference in how I felt every time I had to go clothes shopping, get dressed, and get undressed.

I do have the high profile implants and have been very happy with them.  My PS told me he uses them almost exclusively because their more spherical shape makes them naturally less likely to rupture.  (They're less likely to fold into themselves, so that the shell rubs against itself and wears out.)  Particularly for your frame size, I think they'd be a great choice.

You may have some issues with breastfeeding, but then you may even if you haven't had augmentation.  Most women I've seen postings from have said they had no difficulty, though some have said they had to supplement.  Personally, so many women have so much difficulty with breastfeeding that I think it's hard to say whether it's really the implants or not.  As to the sagging... I'd think you're less likely to sag with implants because that volume will still be there.

HTH!

Thanks everyone for the support and the encouragement!  The more research I do, the more I want to get the surgery done.  I'm trying to convince dh on the cost though.  I'm currently in a doctorate program which is like $50 a day for 3 years, the cars need replacing and the list goes on.  But I figure....we'll come up with the money somewhere if things are meant to be.

Jen
