I found out this past April that I had lung cancer.  I've done my radiation and am now on chemo.  I'm hoping to become a survivor and not another statistic.  Am I in the right place to receive some support and maybe some help in dealing with the chemo.  I've had a pretty rough time with side effects

I am also new to this board, but I also have lung cancer (small cell). I am now in recovery. I went through about a year of radiation and 2 sections of chemo, last was just survival, but it worked !!!!! So far no return of tumor. Believe it or not, you become stronger as you go. I found the secret was ATTITUDE ! Try to find the humor in it all . Everyday is another adventure. If you have any questions about side effects etc, just ask. Good luck and keep a stiff upper lip.

Dan thank you for your response.  So far my attitude has been good and I plan on it staying that way.  I also have small cell.  I've gone through 16 radiation treatments and getting ready tomorrow to do number 4 of 6 chemo treatments.  My last pet scan showed the tumor is shrinking which has given me alot of hope.  I just may take you up on any questions I may have.  Glad to hear you're in remission I'll add you to my prayers.

Glad to hear your tumor is shrinking. After my first round of chemo. & radiation, they called me to to tell me that the tumor was gone........but 2 more took it's place (sounded like a race was going on to me ha ha). But with some more radiation and salvage chemo. we got them. I could not tolorate taking both radiation and chemo. at the same time though. I had to wait until I was done with chemo. then go to radiation. Sounds like you are doing well with both. Wishing you the best, keep up the good additude it really helps alot when the times get rough (it also helps pick up the spirts of those around you who may need a little "pick me up"). As I use to say to the nurses and other patients as I was leaving and rubbing my bald head " Don't forget, I am still a Club Member ha hd). Once again, I wish you all the best.

Dan
