Hello,
I have what is probably a minor issue but my hormones are in full pregnancy swing and I need help processing information I received yesterday.
I had a “routine” pregnancy ultrasound at 11.5 weeks and they found a calcification in my left ovary. I have no fluid in my abdominal cavity, which the doctor made sound like that is a good sign for me. He says it might need to come out after I deliver the baby. What??? I was not ready to hear that. I am scheduled for a follow up u/s of baby and ovary in 6 weeks. I figure if he were too concerned he would have ordered something sooner.
I have had a bleeding nipple and a lump in my breast before and both turned out to be nothing, so I am not panicking yet, but I know nothing of ovarian cancer.
I have a few questions.
Do they remove just the calcification or the entire ovary? (I will ask at follow up, of course, but I didn’t do it yesterday.) Is there any kind of percentage that says x % of calcifications in the ovary are malignant and x % are benign? What are those numbers if you have no extra fluid in the abdominal cavity?
What else is important for me to know?
I haven’t done any research yet, but I am an info-aholic, so I will.
Thanks in advance,
