A newly married friend of mine posted wedding pictures on Facebook, and someone who appears to be an older family friend posts a comment: "What a beautiful couple! I bet you will make a beautiful baby....someday."

I happen to know that this friend LOVES kids and does want to be a mom, but, sheesh! She just got married! I know this type of thing is nothing new, but, goodness!

Yeah, unfortunately it's so common, but still frustrating nonetheless.  I think this kind of pressure is what causes so many people to get divorced later on.  They get pregnant right away (or get married to begin with because of a pregnancy) and later realize that they either didn't have enough time together to get to know each other, or that they never knew each other at all.  I still can't believe people start the baby talk as soon as the wedding is over.

As a side note, I wonder what the divorce rate is among couples who are CFBC compared to couples who have kids.

<I wonder what the divorce rate is among couples who are CFBC compared to couples who have kids.>

That would be an interesting statistic! Would it be lower than parents because of the stress of childrearing or would it be higher because of the simplicity of splitting up? I think there are still a lot of people who stay together, or delay breaking up, because they don't want to upset their children.

RoseAnn, I hadn't thought about it both ways.  I was only thinking that it would be lower among CFBC people because there's no stress associated with children.  Everytime I watch or read a news story about a child who was abducted or very sick, the parents almost always split because of the stress.  We wouldn't have that worry.  But I do think the ease of splitting up would come into play somewhere.

I think the divorce rate would be a lot lower among CFBC couples, only because without children, you can focus more on the actual relationship.  Most of my friends with kids fight all the time about money, sex, not having enough time alone, etc.  Don't have kids and voila, all that pressure is lifted off the marriage.
