Sunken Eye - Fractured Eye Socket Maybe?

When I was a lot younger, my brother punched me pretty hard in my eye. I don't think it turned black and blue (I can't really remember), but it was at least red. I had to hold ice on it for a while. After that time, I realized that my eye was sunken in some.
About five months ago, I was babysitting and the kid was playing around in the pool and accidently kicked me in the same eye. I could automatically feel my eye shifting. After it had happened I could see a change in the shape of my eye, and it was pushed a little closer to the center of my head. It's not a terribly drastic change, but it does look different. Now when I get headaches, my right eye (the one hit) aches a good amount more than the other one. For the first three and half or four months, my eye felt very strange. It felt like, in some places, the skin around it was being tugged on, in other places it just felt pressured and in other places looser. The whole right side of my face began to feel more weighed down. This really freaked me out a lot. And the fact that I could also see a physical difference disturbed me quite a bit. It still feels strangly uncomfortable sometimes and I feel like my eye is unstable or something. If anyone or anything gets anywhere near my eye, I freak out for fear of it being pushed even further into my head or moved around more.

I have always slept on my side and I began to notice, when I woke up in the morning, that the same eye would have creases being formed on the outer side of my face, below my eye - where the skin is now looser. It really freaked me out. Now I only sleep on my back (as uncomfortable as it is for me) for fear of making the creases come back and become worse. I'm too young to have to worry about wrinkles, I'm only 20.

I've looked around on the internet and tried to figure out what could be the problem and I thought maybe it was a fractured eye socket. It also hurts when I look left sometimes. If so, would it be a good idea to get surgery done on it? Or if you know of anything else it may possibly be, let me know please. It really does worry me and is, unfortunately, having an effect on my sleeping habits. If I did get this kind of surgery, how much do you think it would cost, with insurance covering it? How much did anyone have to pay if they had this surgery done?

Welcome to the message board.

I know your headaches must be painful after all the abuse done to this saide of your face and eye.

If I were you I would find a doctor and have him/her look at this for you and see if anything may have been done that you do not know about.

You can't be too safe.

Let me know what you find out--OK?

Hi,
Thanks for responding so quickly. I'm so glad I found this website - it's awesome, people actually talk back and you don't have to assume you won't get a reply from others for maybe...at the least...the three or four months!
Yes, I actually am going to see an opthomologist over the christmas break, so hopefully i found out if there's anything wrong or not. i'll let you know what happens.

I am glad you posted here.

Nice to have someone to talk to.  :o)  Hope I will be able to help you after you see your doctor.  After reading about cos. surgery, it is amazing what all can be done.  If only I had the $$$$ I sure would have some work done on my face not to meantion my body.

Keep posting.
