Possible Levaquin Didn't Work?

Hi,

I started Levaquin on Monday. I felt so much better almost immediately. And for three days I felt good, pretty much 100% (although a little worse at night than during the day.) Then by the evening of day 4 on the meds I was back to full on symptoms.

This is the second antibiotic for my infection. I was initially prescribed Bactrim, to which I had almost the exact same pattern. Initially felt better, but then before my 5 day script was out my symptoms were back. It turns out that the bacteria I have tends to be resistant to Bactrim, so they tried the Levaquin. I felt much more significant improvement with the Levaquin, but then the symptoms came back.

I thought that had solved the problem, but is it possible the Levaquin didn't get it? Are there other things to try? I'm calling my doctor today.

Jen;

I agree that you should call your doctor today.  That is important at this point.  However, I would like to know what bacteria they have said is growing in your urine?  It is unlikely it is resistant to both of these medications.  The mechanisms for how these medications work on bacteria is different.  The real issue here is that you may have something more than a simple UTI going on and you may need more care at this point.

This is not to say that what has been done is wrong.  It is always wise to start simple and then move up.

Please let me know what your doctor says after you talk with him.

gentle hugs

Try d-mannose if the bacteria causing your infections is e-coli. I used to suffer chronic uti's and the misery of antibiotics. D-mannose cured me. Too god to be true, I know, but it's the truth. Please visit:

and learn about my personal battle with uti's, western medicine and how I finally found a cure.

I don't sell d-mannose, I just want to prevent the kind of suffering I went through.
