Hello, I have to have this procedure and a Uredynamics test, I`m in my 60`s and it seems my bladder has fallen and I had about 6 UTI`s this summer which put me with a specialist, from what I understand the Cystoscopy has alot pain assiciated with the procedure is it possible to ask for a local or some kind drug to relieve the pain? Cancer was brought up and some sample will be cut for a biopsy.Any answers would be appreciated. Thank You Patty

Hi Patty;

You have come to the right place.  Cystoscopies are not very unconfortable for most folks and there are things that can be done to make them for comfortable.  The fact that you are having a biopsy with this will make it a more uncomfortable procedure than normal.  You may have some abdominal pain and some burning when you pass your urine after the procedure.  If these last longer than 2 days you should contact your doctor.

When the procedure is over you will be given home care instructions to follow and they will go over with you what to expect and what to report to your doctor.  Becasue there is always to the chance of infection following this procedure you will want to monotor your temperature for example.  Your doctor will tell you what to report back to him/her.

Lots of folks on the board have had this procedure and many will tell you that it has been easy and some will tell you otherwise.  Please feel free to come back here to chat further with us and let us help you get ready.

gentle hugs
