Brian had been sick since Sat and was unable to keep food down , so we went to ER yesterday and got quite a suprise. He was diagnosed with Diabetes for the first time in his life. We were in the ER all day and he was sent home with meds and has to see his doc now for further treatment. He had no idea this is what was wrong. He thought he had a stomach bug or something. This is a whole new world for us and it is going to be a learning experience for us both. He already has high blood pressure and I have tried to get him to change his eating habits , but we all know men and how stubborn they are. I hope this is the wake up call he needs, but it does not matter because I am going to be making some changes. He will be following MY rules and I will do whatever the docs tell me I need to do. If any of you have any advice or experience please feel free to email me and share what you know. I am also asking for some PPT from any of you who are so inclined for us as we face this newest challenge in our lives. Thanks and I will see you around the boards.

PPT heading your way. What a challenge for you both but at least you now know what the problem is.I did laugh when I read you were taking charge..good for you...our men are VERY good at telling us what we should be doing but not so good at doing what they are told, especially where their health is concerned.
I shall keep you in my prayers.

Thank goodness he found out! Diabetes must be treated. It is a manageable disease if treated--but a killer if not. He wil need your support, of coruse, but together you can keep it in check. Also, if it is in its early stages, he might be able to manage with just diet and oral meds rather than injections.

Our mother and grandmother had diabetes. It is a serious condition, but thank goodness treatable. Don't let him piddle around, though. Some people (like our mother) think they can get away with playing games with their diet--they can't.

I will send positive vibes your way, too!
