Well, I had better get this last post in, then.

Our local paper had an interesting article about the rapid growth in the hearing aid market as Baby Boomers age, since we were the first Rock 'n Roll generation and blasted our ears out with loud music. (Not me--my condition, and my sister Linda's (Charvragma), is hereditary, not noise-induced.)

The younger folks will be even deafer at an even earlier age, because iPods deliver even more damaging sound volume and quality.

Here is a link to that article:

I will undoubtedly base an article on it for my website sometime in the next week or so, but unfortunately I won't be able t come here to let y'all know about it. Do check in to my website from time to time to see what new stuff I am putting up.

Tina,
I sooooo love your articles. It is sad, isn't it? Perhaps purplecrab will visit your web site and, with your permission, post links to your articles on iConnect. It loads too slowly for me with my slow connection, so, going there once was enough for me...

If she wants to post links to my articles, she is certainly welcome to do so--or even to post some of the articles themselves, as long as I get my byline.

I am sorry this community died out, but I think that too many people found the format too hard to use--slow-loading, inconvenient to navigate, etc. Laura, one of this message board's founders, was never again able to get on the site after they changed formats. My sister Linda (Charvragma on this board) has not been able to use the iVillage site for several months now.

Many of the message boards I frequent around the net get fancy with their format, and end up undermining vibrant communities. So many of the newer formats are just too complex.

I loved our simple old format that we used to have on this board. Sure, it wasn't as pretty as this one is, but it was so easy to use, and you could see all the thread posts on the same page, without having to wait for each message to load.

I will miss this board, though. It goes all the way back to early 2001, you know.

Tina , I would love to post some of your articles on Connect and of course with your by-line. I visit your sight for personal viewing and info now. I find it to be a great source of info and written in a way that gets the point across. I will email you shortly and we can get together and decide what happens next. I know the members here would love to be able to read your stuff on Connect. I am so pleased that you would be willing to share with all of us  here on iVillage. I am so sorry to see the page go, but I am glad I can count on you sharing your insights with the Deafness & Hearing Loss group. I just want you to know I appreciate your offer and am happy to be your link to our former board members who can't get to your site on their own. I will be in touch Tina. Yes I posted in my CL-name, but I figure who cares now.....right.
