Yes the Diagnostic Lap is pretty much same thing as a Lap. Since they can't confirm there is endo present any other way, they do a laparoscopy, usually 3 little holes in you belly, one in the belly button. and one above the pubic zone, and on one side or both. They go in, and see if there is endo, if there is not, they just have to close, it is a good idea just so they are in there to flush dyw in the tubes to see if they are clear. This way then you don;t need an HSG, what is without anesthesia, since it is not a surgical procedure.
When there is endo present, if they can take it out through the lap incisions they just do (this was my case). I bet there is no much difference in what you feel one way or another. I had moderate to severe endo and didn't realize a thing. Same day I was back home. Spent one day in bed and the 3rd day I started to be up each day more. The 5th day I went back to work, and the 7th I was playing tennis.
I delayed my lap for 1 year and a half since my doctor suggested and that was the stupidest thing I've ever did. After taking care of my endo with the lap and three Lupron shots, I got pg on the 2nd month trying, after 3 years of dealing with infertility. I never had much pain not having a period, and I got pregnant soon after treatment so I couldn't say how my body reacted to pain after the procedure, but essentially it was IF what was interfering with my well being.
Try no to research too much in the internet. That is good for nothing. I know it. With the pregnancy sometimes I look for reasurance and end up very upset. If you go through old posts in this board you may find very good info. I surfed this board all over before my surgery. And don't be scared. I am sure it likely to be just as bad as a lap for removing the gallblader. Still a surgery, but totaly worth it if it takes you where you want to be.
Fell free to reply with any questions you may have. I may be able to helo some more.
