Hi, I am new to ivillage. However I am not new to Bipolar disorder. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder as well as GAD, OCD, PTSD. In addition to that I went through several years of abuse and trauma. I am Dyslexic and my doctor was not able to determine if I have ADD. That is all of the psych and learning disabilities that I have. I also have Asthma,Back problems,CFIDS, Diabetes, Dysmenorrhea,Foot problems,GERD,Hair problems,Migraines, Neck problems and Nightmares. Some of the medical problems that I am experiencing in addition to these have not been pinpointed or diagnosed yet. Due to financial problems and not having any medical insurance or assistance what so ever. I have not been able to receive the care and treatment that I need. I have had to be hospitalized for these problems several times in the past. Now I have several thousand dollars worth of medical bills that I can not pay. I am not able to work a regular job anymore. I can't get disability or a medical card. I am not able to see a primary doctor for my med or psych problems. My Husband and I have had a tremendous amount of problems due to all of the stress and aggravation that these problems cause. I have had recent deaths in the family that I am trying to recover from. My Husband and I were forced to move a few months ago because our landlord took off with our money and skipped town. So now we are trying to get adjusted to the new place and the new higher bills that came along with it. I was not able to finish my education because I got sick. Now I am also stuck with a few thousand dollars worth of student loans that I can't pay back. All of the previous attempts to get treatment have failed. I am not been able to find any medications that work to improve my symptoms. Due to the fact that I have so many problems I have been on numerous medications which only made matters worse.I went through therapy and the only things that I got out of it was messed up advice, a Psychotic girlfriend, and some new helpful coping skills. The problem that I am having is not that I don't want to stay compliant with my treatment plan. The problem is that I am not able to. It is extremely frustrating. I am a the end of my rope and in need of some serious help and I keep hitting a deadend at every turn that I make to try to solve my problems. I have been trying to create a system that will work for me. I live in IL and winter is approaching. In the winter I am completely immobilized by pain and the worsening of my medical problems as well as my Depression due to the cold gloomy weather. During the winter I have to depend heavily on my Husband for everything. We don't get any help from our family and we don't have real friends. I am glad that I have discovered ivillage. I see where it can provide a lot of help and support. It also gives me a way to help and encourage others even when I am too sick to leave the house. Hope is what is keeping me alive. I know that there are solutions to my problems I just have not found them yet.

Hi! Welcome to iVillage:)

I am very sorry to hear about the many challenges you're facing. Please don't give up! There is help available to you. Since you live in Illinois, you can access the mental health system locally through the county. Look under county services in the phone directory. They can get you to treatment through counselors & psychiatrists. From there, meds can be covered if financial assistance is needed. Many of the drug companies have assistance programs that provide free or @ the very least, meds @ low cost. The county mental health where I live provides free meds for those who qualify. In the past, when I didn't have health insurance or a prescription plan, my dr. provided meds through samples he rec'd from the drug company representatives.

If you qualify, apply for state assistance, such as a Medicaid health card. You need to feel better & deserve to feel better. Though it may be hard to do, obtaining government assistance is ok. It's no shame on your part that the system hasn't worked for you. There may be the possibility that you are disabled & the government can provide benefits for you. Once again, you can receive guidance through the local welfare office.

Many in our community visit NAMI.org. They have meetings nationwide on the latest treatments & advances made in mental health care. They hold support groups that help families in coping w/mentally ill loved ones. If you access their website, you can find local meetings, classes & even agencies in your area that may provide help for you.

We do discuss bipolar on this board. However, we have loved ones who suffer w/mental illness. We are learning how to cope w/many issues that affect us. I feel you would be more comfortable on the Bipolar Board. The leader & those who post are bipolar sufferers. They know first hand what you're dealing with & can offer you advice & support. Please visit this link: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhbipolar GL & GBU! We care about you & want you to live the best that you can. (((hugs))) jan

Maybe HOB will play it again. http://www.hbo.com/events/boyinterrupted/index.html Also, it can be saved in Netflix but the release date is unknown. It is a *must see.* jan
