Hello.  New to this group, but a member of a few other ivillage groups.  My husband used Chantex, a medication to quit smoking.  After quitting and weaning down and off of the drug, he couldn't sleep anymore and fell into a depression.  To make a long story short, last Tuesday, while the kids were at school and I was taking a nap, he called in sick to work and woke me up crying and screaming.  He admitted to actually holding his gun in his hand.

I knew this was bigger than seeing a therapist and taking anti-depressant drugs.  I called the hospital for advice, and he volunarily admitted himself into the psyche ward later that day.  They finally are getting him on a regamin of sleep with medication, and is coming home on Monday.

The main reason I am posting this here, is because of a promise I made to God in a prayer.  A couple of days before his bottom he was laying in bed for hours (not sleeping).  I sat down outside on my deck and decided to pray a REAL prayer.  I asked God to let my husband feel a little better so he could get out of bed and join the rest of his family downstairs.  I told God that if this prayer was answered, that I would share about the power of pray (a testimonial), on a Suicide group online.

Well, here I am.  After my prayer I went upstairs feeling extremely confident that this prayer had already been answered.  I opened the bedroom door, walked in, and said "you are feeling better now aren't you?".  His response was "yes, how do you know?"  I said I prayed for you.  He got out of bed and had a little pep in his step for the rest of the day.

I decided to post here as this is for the families of those with mental illness.  Just a reminder to all of you to not forget to P R A Y.

Best of luck,

Christina

What are the plans for continued treatment and care of your husband? That must have been very frightening. I am glad he is all right and thanks for the reminder.
