discussion title: just wanted to say hi to everybody!!!!!
Hi All!!!!
Some of you here know me, and some don't. I have not been here for a long time. So much has happened since the last time that I was here. Where to begin.......
I have gotten married, we bought a house together on an island. Now that the summer is over, it is so much quieter here. We are getting ready for a long winter, if it is like last years. Seeing that there are no stores for an hour in both directions, we have had to stock up. I had a veggie garden this summer, I froze alot of it, and DH loved to pick berries, so of course half of the freezer is full of frozen berries, and the other third has pies that I baked. We need to buy another freezer for the meat, because of course DH is a hunter. It is cool here, there are alot of deer that come and visit, they are like pets, everybody takes care of them, so of course they are not the ones you hunt. We have had to deer proof the back yard, otherwise I would never have had veggies, flowers or fruit trees.
DH is retired, and the reason we got married so fast, is that to be on his pension benefits we had to tie the knot before the retirement date. So of course, the month after we got married, I made a dentist and eye appointment....I am waiting for my new glasses, and cannot wait to get them. We got a new puppy, a male black german shepherd, Jethro, of course he is mostly his dog, I still have my sushi (yorkshire terrier), and my siamese cat.
The downfall of living on this island is that we can only get dial up internet, what a huge pain. It takes me forever to get anywhere, so I end up giving up. I have been peeking in here reading a few threads, cannot write anything, because of the time it gets to actually open the login page......UGH!!!!!! Today I decided to stick around and wait. I just cleaned the house, and soaked in the tub, so I had time....lol.
Another downfall of moving here, is that I lost my DR, and there are no DR's here that are accepting new patients, I also lost my FB specialist..... Because I am so relaxed here, I have not had too many flares, so that means that I have barely taken any of my T3's, a prescription of 90 has lasted me for 6 months. I am starting to run low, so I have been wondering what to do......They do have walkin clinics in the city next to here, but they have long lineups.....
Well that is all DH just came in, and I bet he is hungry....what else is new,.,...LOL
I hope to chat with you all soon...
Bye for now
Wendy

Wow! Your home sounds so quiet, relaxing, and peaceful. I'd go insane in about a week or so ;) I am actually looking forward to the day when I have time to garden and bake again. I really miss going to college, because even though I had a baby to take care of on my own, I had so much more time to do stuff than I do now. Working a 40 + hour week stinks. I hope you continue to feel good and enjoy all the fresh air and wild animals. I do miss a few things about country living, like the birds, woods, critters, and being able to have some privacy. I don't miss having to drive forever and a day just to get some tampons, though. I'm sending you a "high 5"! Hope we can hear from you soon.

Hi, Wendy! Don't know if you remember me or not. I haven't been around the board much this past year; posting once in a while and mostly just reading! Congratulations on getting married and finding a new home the two of you can enjoy...sounds wonderful. It seems to agree with you...less medicine is great news. Hope you can find a doctor soon, though; it can be tough when you know you will need new prescriptions soon. I'm doing great...mostly sticking with a healthy diet and a good vitamin/mineral supplement. I still need one muscle relaxant and one pain pill at night, but otherwise I'm sleeping great. I've managed to get through the busiest time of the year working 45 hours a week in our outdoor power equipment business (sales, service, parts) without a flare and can't remember the last time I had one! I just hope when things slow down for the season it doesn't change! We had dial up when we first moved here in 95...was able to get satellite a couple of years ago and finally this year we have DSL. What a difference! So, yeah, I feel for you having to go back to dial up. Again, glad you are doing so well and enjoying your new life. Michelle/mica_ga

Thank you for replying. Yes it is quiet and very peaceful, and at times very boring. The summer was not normal, very cold and wet. We got two nice weeks in June then 3 wks in September, that is it for heat, the rest of the the summer was like fall. Now we are back to fall, and the wood stove is burning away once more. I have been trying to figure out what I will do with myself over the winter. If it is like last year, I will be bored out of my mind. But on the flipside, I will be away from people, and that means, no flu or swine flu. I cannot get the shots because my system rejects anything like that, so staying away from people is a good thing. I know DH will drive me crazy, I know I will be going crazy, no highspeed, only tv....UGH....I do miss working, I miss my friends at the last place I worked. I do keep in touch with them on the internet, but it is just not the same. My son is moving to Toronto from Montreal, so either way I would not see him anymore or less.
I have to find an hobby........
Thank you again, and I hope you are doing well. Wendy

Of course Michelle I remember you, you are one of the few that I recognize from when I used to post. I stopped coming in here for a lot of different reasons. Like I said I do still peek in once and a while.
I also am eating more healthy, but because I am not working, I have gained a few pounds, I hate that. We do take daily walks, but I have to stop and sit for a few minutes here and there, otherwise I cannot continue. I cannot work which is ok, because DH is retired, so we get to jump in the truck and take off whenever we want. The weather has not been nice, so we are not doing as much as we want. DH loves to kayake, so he has been out there first thing in the morning, while I am still sleeping....LOL.
This week it was all about winterizing outside of the house. It is such a shame to have to cut down my roses, pul out my annuals, and put all my outdoor furnisher away.
I hope you are having a pain free weekend....
Take care of yourself. Wendy
