I'm glad to see you back Mary Frances - 3 weeks vacation would be heaven right now.
My summer has been a summer of pain I hope never to repeat again. I got Lyme Disease, took the antibiotics, was fine, 4 weeks later it came back, took antibiotics for a month, 28 HOURS after the last one, the muscle pain came back with a vengeance in the middle of the night and woke me up (that's how the Lyme Disease started was the obvious bull's-eye and then muscle pain), and I took an antibiotic, 2 hours later the pain started to subside. During the worst muscle pain I took 2 Demerol (I have IBS and it leaves me with quite a lot of pain and doc gave me the Demerol for it) and it didn't even touch the pain. I kept questioning the doctor as he said I've had enough antibiotics to be rid of the Lyme's and I said then how come when I get on antibiotics, the pain goes away? I liken the pain to post-surgery pain, all over my arms and legs. He thought it might be a rheumatology thing and sent me to a rheumatologist who said that was not the problem and mentioned fibromyalgia. I've had that in my neck and shoulders for 20 years and it doesn't feel like this pain. So I saw the rheumatologist last Thursday and he said I need to get off antibiotics. I said fine, but not until Monday in case the pain comes back and I can get to the my family doctor for a pain shot of some sort. Well, guess what - so far no pain and I'm lovin' it! I won't feel comfortable yet, I want a month to go by first before I feel I'm rid of whatever was causing the pain. I tried to keep my bg down since I wasn't doing a lot of moving around, staying mostly in my recliner sleeping to escape the pain. However, for some reason I am waking up in the mornings with bg of anywhere from 74 to 87 and a check in the afternoons it is 150-180. I did do what you told me, Mary Frances, I split the Lantus to make it more even doses but I do 10 u more in the midday than I do at midnight. It's time for an A1C so that will tell me more of how bg is being controlled.
What's this I hear that Lantus might cause cancer? That's a lovely thing to know since I've been on it for a little over a year. So sorry I let my doc talk me into it and so is he as I was doing better on the pills.
And I just wanted to add that having these youngsters is a full-time job for old people like my husband and I. The girl (she's a little slow-not all there) is a killing machine - we put the birdbath up high on a pedestal and she still can jump high enough to get a bird! We had to put a fence around it. And every night (except for tonight for some reason) little Purrvin comes in, paws at my nightgown, I have to pick him up and hold him in my arms while I'm on the computer for the rest of the evening. And the oldster, Cali, has gone from trying to attack the kittens, to trying to hang out with them. She followed little Poco around today but couldn't keep up. They are such a chore but a joy too. I'll bet your baby missed you while you were gone, Mary Frances. Did she crave you to "love her up" after you got home?
So that's my news - that's why I haven't "checked in" for a while. Too much pain but I loved all the sleep when the pain would allow it!
