Okay, a brief background-- I had first ovary/tube removed in 1995. Got preggers in 2007 with first baby, doc found mass on ovary--at 21 weeks preggers had remaining ovary and tube removed. After baby was born, three months post partum, regular periods started--which with not ovaries mensies are to be stopped. Went to gyne, she said thought piece of ovary remained--sent me for Transvaginal U/S and blook work. No ovaries found on U/S and blood work showed perimenopausal. Sent me for MRI to make sure that no ovaries were found--MRI negative for ovaries. Told me to go to a fertility doctor 'cause mensies still going strong. Went to a fertility doctor to try egg donor. First fertility doctor gave us the run around so we ended up at the original hospital that removed my last ovary. This doctor had me go back in for new blood work and new transvaginal U/S during the 2,3 or 4th day of my cycle. While I haven't gotten the blood work results yet--I go back in one week to see them. While the nurse was doing the transvaginal U/S she found a piece of my left ovary remaining. Well I was so excited!! I know I got my hopes up for nothing but I couldn't help it. she didn't give me any information on it. When I asked her if I had any reason to be encouraged she told me that everything depends on my age, and other tests that the doctor will do. So, the only hope that I have is that there is a piece of an ovary left in there. Well, hubby and I are seeking to have another baby through egg donation otherwise. But since my tests I have been searching on the internet and coming up with nothing. Has anyone achieved a pregnancy through IVF with an ovary remnant? I know this is alot to ask but in the past year, I have had my hopes raised only to get slammed in the stomach each and every time and the next I fear is only a few days away. Thank you to any of you who can give me any information. Have a great day.

That's a great question, and while I don't know of anyone who has achieved a pregnancy under such circumstances, I think you might have a shot.  You might try asking this question on our In Vitro (IVF) message board as well.
