Has anyone else seen Dr Michael Eades blog on heartburn? He reviews a new theory that he says has tons of promise as the benchmark research involving causation mechanisms and eradication of heartburn and gerd through simple diet correction. I only bring it up b/c drmike has sold millions of his protein power book and spent lots of time on the NYTimes bestseller list. I have read Eades since my doctor told me Eades was a genius. I would love to hear some opinions if this idea has as much validity as I think it does. http://blog.proteinpower.com/drmike/

HI Joejoe!

Welcome to the board!  We all have opinions and viewpoints and that's what makes the world go round.  Yes, restricting carbs is good and bad.  A diabetic has to watch their carb intake, but they still need carbs to make their body function properly and so do the rest of us.  We cannot run on all protein.  We will hit a wall and colapse.  That has been proven.  What is your take on this??  I could say you were a genius...but does that make it so??

Have a super day!

I appreciate your interest. I must contest that people absolutely can survive with out carbohydrates. I would suggest some refined reading on the subject. Carbs are not at the heart of my concern however. I have gerd and I thought I was posting on a gerd board. If you experience the burning agony of gerd like I do, it would behove you to look into Dr. Eades blog and the new science of gerd that Dr. Norman Robillard has discovered. I would like to help anyone who has heartburn. I have read the above Dr's work and since implementing his suggested diet corrections, I am heartburn free. Honest to god!!! It is a great feeling. I was soliciting feedback to see if I am an anomoly or if the good doc is on to a breakthrough. If you have gerd please let me turn you on to this research as I am inclined to think it would help you greatly.

Hey Joe,

Yes, you are posting on a GERD board.  Your post has been viewed by quite a few people.  I find it interesting and am curious at the same time.  Would you post more here?  What have you found with this new way of thinking?  How hard is it?  I like the part where you are feeling better and most of us are looking for something short of a miracle on how to deal with this.  Please share your thoughts, findings and anything else with us.  I know this board is slow at times, but sometimes it can be one hopping place.  I will post above and tell them all to check out your post.  Have a wonderful weekend!  It has been snowing here all morning.  It is beautiful and quite here.

I have to agree. One of the first things my GI told me was a high protein, low carb diet would help, as the increased protein helps the LES get stronger and build muscle, thereby reducing GERD. I was on this diet, and took protein supplements and did better.

Hugs,

Amanda
