Oh my goodness....I DID answer your post and now I cant find it. I had all the info here in front of me and I was answering it....I remember doing it. BUT where did it go? Sometimes I get these mental blank spots..lol. I might have did the preview button and forgot to hit the post button.
OK .... Here goes. Your levels are a lot better than mine were when I first started my liver treatments. They are not as good as someone with no liver disease. That is a lot of leeway...but each individual can and is a bit different. That is why they have a range of "normal" levels. Your diagnosis of a fatty liver may or may not lead to transplantation. That depends on how your liver responds to you treating it different. Number one...(I have a fatty liver too) is so very important...diet...we HAVE to stay away from fat foods. Now some fats are good for you, like the fats you find in fish, especially salmon, that great benefits to our bodies. The fats that are hurting me are the sweets. Processed sugar, white flour, white pasta, basically any of the "white" food items have to go. I say "have" but that is only possible with MY cooperation. I get sweet attacks and I just feel like I HAVE to have a candy bar or cookie. Yuck...that is dangerous. I try to stay focused and I am better but not where I need to be on the diet. The next thing we have to do is keep your list and make sure you are tested again at regular intervals. Then compare the new levels with where you were on your first list. The doctor should explain any differences to you. If he doesnt...get another doctor. We HAVE to get involved with our health care. The ones who keep up and question decisions and test results will get the most attention and best care. The doctors are too scared of malpractice ... and that can help US. They know that if we are involved, then we are involving family members, and they do not want to make a mistake. You are also allowed..let me say encouraged...to ask for a second opinion if the first one does not feel right to you. Trust your gut. My first diagnosis would have left me dead if I had not consulted another doctor.
Do not drive yourself crazy googling liver transplant. The information you find, while accurate, is not complete. All you will do is scare yourself to death..I did. That is not the right mental attitude to face a possible transplant. I also have a friend that was so sick, she was put on the transplant list, kept on meds, and over a nine year period, got so much better that she was removed from the transplant list. Amazing huh? The liver is a rejuvinating organ...so treat it right and it can treat you right. If there is a local transplant hospital near you, you might call and ask if they have any information you can get...but remember...each person is different. What they choose to treat me with might not work for you. Each case is evaluated and treated, based on the merits of the physical needs of each patient. I was one that did not get amonia in my liver. So many that I met and talked to in the liver clinic did. I didnt have to have that treatment. I did have to have a special chemo and radiation injected into my liver to stop tumor growth...and most of the people I met didnt have to do that. So remember, the doctor will make the decisions...if one does not feel right, get a second opinion....remember that you have the right to ask questions and receive answers. Do that on a regular basis. Get the doctors used to the fact that they need to explain each process to you or you will ask for that second opinion. They will just start talking to you about your care without being prompted. Of course, do not hesitate to prompt.
The biggest thing to remember is that your attitude will be the key factor in your progress. If I had gone into my transplant situation with a negative attitude and a "woe is me" face, I do not believe I would have come out of it. My biggest suggestion is prayer. I dont know what you believe about a God in the universe, but I am sure you know that there is something out there that has more power than you. That is where you pray. I did not pray for wellness...I prayed for ability to do any and all that had to be done and the mental attitude to accept what my HP chose for me. After saying that on a regular basis, I could get up each day and enjoy the life I have. I still do that. My attitude keeps me up and being of that attitude gives me so much pleasure in every aspect of my life. Doctors cant give you that..only you and the HP of your understanding can...so I truly suggest you try that. It beats any medical pill to feel better that is on the market...and a lot cheaper. LOL
I hope this makes up for the non-answer I typed before. I am so sorry. I will keep a closer eye on the board to make sure I do not do that again. I truly want to be of service and I really care about how you are feeling and coping. I hope this post helps. God bless....
