I was recently diagnosed w/ hsv2 a month ago but possibily had it since 2003 and i am also pregnant and i posted on this board before. Now I am trying to figure out where i got this from being that i only had 1 sex partner in my life (who is my husband now) and i was also raped. My husbad was deployed to japan in (2003) and when he came back on leave we had sex then a week later i got sick. But prior to us having sex i had gotten raped by a so called friend. My questions are:

Could i had contracted this form the rape and passed it to my husband?

just b/c i got sick 1 wk after having sex w/ my (now hubby)does this mean that he gave this to me or could the rapist given it to me and it not show up in my body until after i slept w/ my hubby?

If my husband tests postive for hsv2 does this mean that he gave this to me?

Well it's entirely possible that you contracted herpes from the rape, or you could have gotten it from your husband.  I mean, some people are carriers and never have any symptoms but can still transmit the disease.  It's possible he could have had it before you.  Or if you ever had a relationship that you didn't have actual intercourse but you did do the "heavy petting" thing and touched gential to genital, you could have contracted it that way.  It's really hard to say.  And herpes can lay dormant in a person and some stressful event or illness, lack of sleep, poor diet, whatever, can trigger a first outbreak.  As far as your husband having it.  If he tests positive, it still doesn't give you a clear cut answer as to who passed it to who.  If he tests negative, then it would at least narrow it down.  But, the blood tests from herpes have a higher false positive/negative rate than do the "gold standard" swab test.  So if you have your husband tested by blood, I would have the test done twice to confirm the diagnosis.

Good luck!

Hugs!
