I'm going to try the prenatal vitamins (even though I don't have kids and don't plan on having a baby). I use to have really long, thick, curly hair but have noticed in the past few years that it has really thinned out and my scalp is dry and itchy at times. I was in University for 5 years which really stressed me out and I sometimes wonder if that had a lot to do with it. I think with the stress of what was going on during that period in my life, I didn't always eat 100% healthy. I did take vitamins in the beginning and stuck to a really healthy diet (I'm vegetarian) but over the years, my meals have not always been balanced. I read up on hair loss (or thinning) and know that there are a lot of factors involved so I think it takes time to figure out what might cause the problem in the first place but diet is a good place to start. As well, I looked at some prenatal vitamins and noticed that it contains the majority of good vitamins and minerals (D, B, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Biotin and other valuable ones). I figure that it would be cheaper to buy prenatal vitamins vs. separate vitamin bottles!

Thanks for you're suggestion!

How long did it take for you to notice the reults? My hair started falling out because i was put on chemo because of my lupus. i stopped treatment at the end of oct. I haven't lost all of my hair but my hair continues to fall out especially when i wash it. i wonder if this could work for me. I guess it cant hurt to try right. Thanks for sharing this.

Well ~ I'm certainly no medical expert and your circumstances are different from mine.. mine was stress and vitamin related and yours was caused by the treatment for Lupus, I would check with your doctor before you try it. Just tell him what you want to take (a daily prenatal vitamin) and as long as he doesn't think anything in it would affect your health adversely then give it a shot. I really hope this works for other women though ~ I started to notice results within about 2 weeks. I didn't notice it growing back right away, just a huge reduction in the amount of hair I would be losing every day. I would guess I've been taking them every day for about 2 months now (I also cut about 3-4 inches off the length of my hair to get rid of all the split ends which I hear also helps. If I had run my fingers through my hair before I would have come out with about 20 hairs at least (every single time).. I just tried it as I was typing this and lost 1. I don't really notice it getting thicker, I know it's not as noticable to see my scalp though and if my hair if freshly washed and dry (I never use a blow dryer, I just comb it and then let it dry on it's own) my ponytail seems much thicker than it was before. I think it will take awhile for the hair I lost to grow back though.
Good Luck!!!

That's exactly why I gave them a shot. I read the bottle and they have the daily recommended dose on just about every vitamin a woman could possibly need. Pregnant women don't want to be taking a whole bunch of different pills so the makers of prenatal vitamins simplifies it for them ~ one pill for everything. I don't actually know what effects stress causes on the body so I'm not sure exactly what I was low on (and my diet certainly isn't the best either with two teenagers in the house and a busy work schedule) but whatever I was missing I seem to be getting now since it's working. Thank you for responding ~ I hope they help you too.. let me know!
