Hello Gal Girl,

My H is suffering severely from hair loss also. We are trying everything! He is devestated by it and I can see how much worse it would be a for a woman to experience it. It is almost expected that men lose their hair and its attractive on men, but us women, ugh!

Take pre-natal vitamins consistently. It does help a bit. The thing with vitamins is that you have to take them conistently and for long periods of time to get them to work and keep working. My H takes them (shhhhh.. don't tell I leaked that info) and they aren't making his hiar grow back but the hair he does have is thicker and grows quicker. I take them also and I have seen a difference in my hair. And no, neither one of us is prenant. hahaha

I'm kinda at a loss here. Here this woman is coming to you for advice on her hairloss and you post a reply about anorexia. I saw nothing in the original post or in penguin's that stated anything about an eating disorder. Gal_girl lost weight and has no appetite. I'm 34 years old, weigh 100 lbs, have very little appetite, and according to my Dr, am healthy just need to put on a few pounds. I have a hard time gaining and am a regular lurker on the underweights messageboard here.
Yes, hairloss is a symptom of anorexia, but don't ASSUME that someone is anorexic or bulemic just because they are thin.

As for gal_girl and penguin, I've heard alot of positive things about Nioxin and have just ordered some to try. I also take a prenatal vitamin daily and only color with ammonia free products since they are less damaging (you think hair loss is bad on it's own, combine that with early gray).

mswendy2u,

The article was only intended to show some of the problems of weight loss and no appetite, there was no assuming anything she stated she had been to the doctor and was fine.

The correct regimen for restarting some sort of hair growth is different for everyone and takes a lot of trial, error and patience.  There are products out there that help but there are also products out there that that are a sham.  I've also heard positive things about Nioxin regimes and they seem to work for many.

When I was cl I couldn't say try this or that, I'm not her doctor.  I told her what to be aware of and in an earlier post some hair saving and diet secrets and cosmetic options if they were applicable.
