Hi,
I am facing a horrible problem. I gave birth to my baby 3 months ago. After a few days of delivery I passed hard stool and developed a superficial but painful fissure. My doctor advised me stimulant laxative. I used it for two weeks and feeling better then agai passed hard stool and refreshed the fissure. I started laxative once again. I was so scared that I kept on using it again for a month. I left using it for a few days and stool was fine then suddenly I felt very constipated like I was unable to pass stool I knew that I it but couldn’t pass it. This was the first time I faced this horrible form of constipation. I took laxative once again and passed very hard and large bulk of stool which left my rectum a bit swollen. I then didn’t use laxative for 3 days and again had to face the horrible constipation. So I took it again and due to hard stool I once again bled from my fissure. Now I am very scared I want to get off laxative but if I do I get constipation and then fissure, the same cycle. It’s been now almost 3 months. Maybe this severe constipation is a withdrawal symptom of getting off laxative. What should I do. I was thinking that maybe I should start taking milk of magnesia, (less harsher than stimulant laxative) for a few days and use glycerin suppository in case of hard stool. I want to inform that I had been using high fiber diet and lots of water approx. 2 liters water for the past few days but remained constipated. Can anyone guide me how to break free of bisocodyl (laxative) and also get rid of constipation and fissure. Help!
Thanks
Ritu
