In Vitro (IVF)

Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to start IVF#2.  I had my first IVF in Febuary and had 11 eggs retrieved with 9 mature.  At that time, we decided to do half with ICSI and half without.  None of the group without ICSI fertilized. All 5 out of the ICSI group fertilized.  Out of the five, we had two low quality embryos transferred on day 3 which resulted in a BFN.  After taking the summer off, we are ready to try again.  Our only issues are with DH sperm count (varies usually around 1 mil/ml), low volume, and 2% morphology.  My RE was afraid to overstim me the first round.  This next round, we are not using Lupron but instead, stimming and then adding Cetrotide.  He hopes I will get more eggs and we are going to do ICSI on all this time.  Has anyone used Cetrotide?  I didn't have much side effects from injections before and I hope it is the same with Cetrotide.  Any thoughts or experiences?

My last cycle was an antagonist protocol without lupron. I used Cetrotide and ganirelix with Follistim. We also did ICSI. I really think that dropping the lupron was really good for my response that got better quality eggs.

First let me start off by saying sorry about the 1st IVF cycle. I know that was hard, thank you for giving us some background information.

I know that at least one board buddy used Cetrotide, and I can't recall what the outcome was.  I want to say it was Cilla, our Co-CL of the board, and if it is, she is due any day now.  I'm not quite sure, so don't quote me.  I'm sure they have a reason, I'm not a dr.  I know they should be doing what's best for you. I wouldn't worry. I'm sure the Cetrotide doesn't have any stranger symptoms/side effects than other hormones and drugs we take during the IVF cycle.

Sounds like a great plan.  KUP.  I did ganirelix, similar to cetrocide.  No side effects.
