I got the flu shot and this week I've had the flu. Oh well.

It began Monday with a dry cough and slightly runny nose. no biggie. Figured it was allergies and gave my nose a spray of nasonex.

cough progressed, then I got achey from head to toe, then the chills, then EXTREME chills, then a fever, then sweats that alternated with the chills, some vomiting, fatigue, no appetite (none at all) and then pretty much feeling like I'd be better off dead.

Doctor prescribed Tamiflu, which you have to begin within 40 hrs of symptoms. It helped. I'm still sick but far better than Monday, tues and wed.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  Sounds really miserable.  Did the kids escape it?  Is this H1N1?

believe it or not, I currently don't have medical insurance but we paid out of pocket for the doctor visit because I need to be able to take care of the family and wanted that tamiflu I heard so many great things about. the doctor said they don't test for H1N1 at her office because they treat it the same, regardless of the type of flu. I thought that was weird, because I figured they'd want to monitor out breaks, especially since the local elementary school had 100 kids absent on Monday with the flu! I wonder if she said they didn't test because I don't have insurance.

I have all the symptoms of Swine, but my fever never went over 103 which is the one thing that makes me hopeful it wasn't H1N1 (usually higher w/ that I believe).

Dan has it now and I suspect Joey will be next as he was coughing, too. Dan is miserable today, but that also makes him quiet which gives us both a chance to rest :-)

We also had company over for dinner Monday night and THEY have the flu now too. Only a matter of time before the rest of the family drops like flies. My daugther was coming home from college this weekend but I told her to stay at a friends instead of our germy home. She can't afford to miss college classes for this!

Aww, sorry you won't get to see her, but better safe than sorry.  That's exactly what we have to do to not keep spreading this.  It's just really scaring me with Jenna and her heart condition.  We are on double duty with hand washing, gel, clorox wipes, etc.  Her school is doing an awesome job so far of cleaning like mad men!  They hired in extra help just for this reason to help disinfect the school each and every day TWICE!
