For me it was health. As an avid International Folkdancer (performing group member) I always told myself I'd quit when it started affecting my dancing. Well, I guess I was in denial for many years because now I'm at ~ 70% lung capacity and can barely jog 3 blocks ( 30 yrs ago I ran the 1st 3 miles of a 10K race @ 8 min/mile ). Thankfully I can still walk/jog 4-5 miles @ 4+ mph and pray I won't spend my final years like my aunt, dragging that green tank around. Our performing group has folded (at 59 I was 2nd youngest), but I/we still dance recreationally every Friday nite & it is obvious that my stamina IS greatly diminished.
