My beautiful grandson and my only grandson I have actually, has me concerned about the way he eats.  I have never heard of a child who eats this way, and my own two sons certainly did not.  So I guess I am coming to you ladies to ask you  have you ever heard of a child eating this way.

All my grandson will eat is chicken nuggets, french fries and cheese.  He will eat dry fruit loops and drink apple juice, but that is about the sum of what he lives on.  I get very concerned he is getting what he needs to grow and prosper properly.  My son and daughter in-law have asked the doctor and he said he was growing the way he should so don't worry about it, he will eventually start eating.  But it doesn't seem like that is ever going to happen.  My little smiley guy will be three in March.

Has anyone ever heard of a child eating like that, and yes, they have tried very, very hard to get him to eat other things and he just wont' do it.

Hi and welcome :)

I have seen kids who eat like this.  My suggestion would be keep offering good things to him and offer those over the bad things.  If he likes chicken nuggets make some homemade ones and bake them,  if he likes french fries do some homemade sweet potato fries and see if he eats those.  Cheese is always good :)  Maybe put some melted cheese over some macaroni and dice up some small cooked carrots in it.  Also just keep offering something on his plate, peas or carrots over and over again, eventually he will try it.  I have a 2 year old girl in my class who eats just like this.  Everyday her parents would have her buy her lunch and every day she would cry at lunch time b/c she didn't even want to try the good stuff.  Everyday for 2 mos. I put baby carrots cut into match sticks on her plate and she didn't touch them.  Then one day she ate them all, on her own, I never said a word to her and she has been eating them ever since.  She also now eats the pasta and spaghetti sauce, the mac n cheese, the turkey sandwich and the loaded baked potato, all of which she used to cry about.  We just kept being consistent and offering it.

I think there are alot of kids that eat that way, and I agree with PP, just keep offering him the good stuff, make what he does eat as healthy as possible, and eventually he will try new things. Homemade chicken nuggets are very simple to make, fries can also be homemad,e they dont have to come out of a bag, and cheese is always good. You can also get Fruity Cheerios that are made with fruit juice, he might eat those instead of the fruit loops. They are a bit healthier.  Make sure the apple juice is 100% juice, and maybe keep a cup of water out for him all day instead of juice, if he gets thirsty, he'll drink it.
